More on Shopping Smarts
Sales, sales, and more sales
Each month of the year, supermarkets and stores seem to find an excuse to put items on sale. January sales, spring sales, summer sales, blue cross sales, pre-Christmas sales – you name it, you’ve got it. Humongous ads saying that they have 50% to 70% off can be misleading. How many times have you gone inside a store because of that tag only to find out that only a few selected items are actually on sale? Yet having you come in is already half the battle. After all, who knows if you see something you want which is not on sale?
BOGOF
That stands for buy one get one free. Oh it is true, you do make savings off these deals. Yet the fact remains that you probably wouldn’t have bought the item if it weren’t on the BOGOF scheme, would you? The savings are there but you would have made more savings if you had hadn’t bought those items in the first place.
Shelf Stacking is an Art
Oh yes, it is! You would love to know just how much people in this business pay for psychologists to figure out how their shelves should be stacked. Women, men, and kids – no one is totally immune to the tactics of displaying items on shelves. The only way to combat these techniques is to know what you are shopping for and to keep your wits about you. Otherwise, you just might end up being having had at the end of your shopping adventure.
