Are You A Smart Shopper?
…Or have you been had? There is a tendency for us humans to believe in ourselves. Call in confidence or whatever you want to but the fact remains that we don’t want to think that other people can get the better of us. Yet it does happen – even in the smallest of things.
Think about the last time you went grocery shopping - or any kind of shopping for that matter. How shrewd of a shopper were you? Do you think you got the best deals and bargains that were available? Here are some “tricks of the trade” that you may want to know about. You never know, you just might end up saving a few quid here and there on your next shopping trip.
“Special Purchases”
This is a term that can be very misleading. Ever see those high piles of goods labeled “special”? By law, stores cannot label goods to be on sale unless they have marked down prices from the original. This special label, however, is a result of a loophole. Instead of labeling them as “on sale,” stores use the “special” label to attract customers. Though they are labeled such, it doesn’t mean that you are saving up on anything. It is just a label.
“Closing Sale”
How many times have you seen this advertised? Many stores have tried this ruse, no one can count. What they do is to “close down” and start all over again. They do this using another name or the label “under new management.” It doesn’t change the fact that you are probably not making a lot of savings – if any at all.
