Financial Blind Spots
We all have blind spots in different aspects of life. Remember the saying that love is blind? In a relationship, we sometimes overlook things because we care for the other person. In other cases, like our finances, we have blind spots mainly because we merely overlook certain things. These blind spots make us lose money and we may not even be aware of it! Why don’t you take some time to check your own situation and see if you have these blind spots as well.
One of the biggest blind spots we have financially is related to time. We have heard it ever since we were children – time is money. Yet we do not really realise the import of this statement sometimes. Think about the chores and errands that you need to attend to on a regular basis. Do you plan how you will deal with these things? More often than not, we just go around and do whatever we can without even stopping to think how we could better go about it. The end result is that we are not efficient – we end up spending much more time than necessary to finish a task.
How can we solve this? Planning is the key. Get an online planning diary or even an old notebook. Note down all the financial concerns that you are going to have to deal with in the near (and far) future. This way you can plan for everything while taking all the other issues into consideration. You just might be surprised at how much time you can save by doing this.
