The Last of the Financial Personalities
In the past few posts we have been talking about the different kinds of financial personalities. To recap briefly, we have the saver and the spender. We also talked about some tips for the spender – how he can manage his finances a bit more prudently.
So here’s the last of the financial personalities – the moneyphobic. I know what you are thinking – can there really be a person who has “a fear of money?” The answer is a resounding yes!
Think about it this way – we can divide the moneyphobic into two classes, based on the reason for their phobia of money.
First, there are those who are moneyphobic simply because they do not care about money. Maybe they have more than enough so they couldn’t care less about their finances – they get bored trying to handle their money, they know they have it and they do not think about having to manage it properly. Or maybe, they simply get overwhelmed trying to deal with their finances (no matter what the status is) so they just don’t pay any attention to it.
Second, a person may be moneyphobic because of an inherent belief that money is the root of all evil – or something like that. As a result, he can’t be bothered to deal with it.
As you can see, the moneyphobic is an extreme personality. It may be rare but I believe it does exist. However, whether your financial status is good or bad, it is never a good idea to hide from reality and not deal with your finances in one way or another.
